T.I.D.E. Towards Inclusive Development Education

Project website: http://www.tideproject.eu/

TIDE -Towards Inclusive Development Education” promoted in Italy by AIAS Bologna (non-profit organization) and COSPE, is a European project that involves Italy, Wales, Finland and Hungary, aiming to achieve the active involvement of young persons with disabilities in processes of Global Citizenship Education.

The objective is to promote a more inclusive idea of active citizenship, able to include a wide part of the population which is generally excluded from the classical approach of the Global Citizenship Education.

In each national context, a team made up of an association operating in the field of disabilities and an NGO, will suggest training and information actions for young persons with disabilities and local public and private bodies that work in the fields of the two abovementioned themes ( Global Citizenship Education and Disabilities).

The initiative is based on an experimental and participatory approach which will see young persons with disabilities directly involved in awareness-raising actions. In fact they will be involved in workshops on the main themes of Global Citizenship Education, such as:  the Millennium Goals, inter-culture, global social and economic unbalances; they will present their re-elaborations during public events and participate in a European march to reach the European Parliament in Brussels.

Our activities:

• Participatory research-action

• Experimental workshops on MDGs themes

• Formative and informative appointments

• Production and testing of accessible material for Global Citizenship Education

• Production of a Methodological Guide for educators and NGOs

• Creation of an accessible website to gather the project’s experiences and material.

• Transnational awareness-raising caravan towards the European Parliament
